When you hire us – we are "the company" or "us" – you agree with them. You are "the customer". We use very easy words so it's clear for everyone. No fancy legal stuff. Let's go through it one by one, nice and slow.

We know moving can feel stressful. You have boxes everywhere, kids running around, or work deadlines. That's why we want everything upfront and honest. No hidden surprises. Our goal is to make your move smooth and safe for you, your family, and our team. We've done thousands of moves, so we get it. Happy customers are our best ads! We handle your things with great care, but like any move, it's good to know the basics.

1. How We Make Quotes and Prices

We give you a quote (price estimate) based on what you tell us. This includes details like the size, weight, and number of your items, plus access at your pickup and drop-off spots. Things like stairs, lifts, parking spots, or loading areas matter a lot.

If the info you give is wrong, not complete, or misleading, we can change the price. For example:

  • If items are bigger, heavier, or more than you said.
  • If there are stairs, no parking, or tight spaces we didn't know about.

Extra fees might happen for:

  • Changing the delivery address.
  • Needing more workers or special tools.
  • Waiting around (like if you're not ready).
  • Storing your stuff.
  • Extra services you add later.
  • Buying packing boxes or materials.

We might say no to moving something if it's unsafe, badly packed, or could hurt people, damage things, or break our trucks. We always follow New Zealand's health and safety rules to keep everyone safe.

2. Items We Can't Move – Stay Safe!

  • Pets or animals.
  • Things that burn or explode, like gas or petrol.
  • Bad chemicals, paints, and car batteries.
  • Engines or car parts not packed well.
  • Food that goes bad fast.
  • Money, gold, rings, passports, gift cards.

Tell us if something is super heavy. Two guys can lift 80 kg max safely. Bigger needs more help or machines – that costs extra.

3. Important Note About Your Belongings

By New Zealand law (Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017), we move your goods at "owner's risk". This means you're responsible for your items during the move, unless we cause damage on purpose. It's standard for moves like yours and helps keep our prices fair and low.

4. Get Insurance – We Recommend It!

We don't include insurance in our price. But we strongly suggest you get "transit insurance" for your move. This covers your things while we transport them.

You have choices:

  • Buy it from your own insurance company.
  • Ask us to get it for you through our trusted broker.

If you skip insurance, you accept all the risk. No hard feelings – just protect your valuables! Good advice: Even small moves can have surprises. Insurance gives peace of mind and is affordable.

5. Our Insurance Options (If You Ask Us to Arrange)

If you want us to sort insurance, we have two levels:

  • Basic Cover (Limited Perils): This pays for accidents only during the truck ride, like:
    • Fire
    • Flood
    • Truck crash or rollover
  • Full Cover: This adds protection for damage during loading or unloading by our team.

All claims have an "excess" (like a deductible – you pay the first bit). If your items aren't packed by us, the excess jumps to $250 NZD.

6. What Insurance Doesn't Cover

  • Cash, jewellery, watches, papers, bonds, or cheques
  • Food, animals, cars, boats, trailers.
  • Parts or extras for those excluded items
  • Any one item over $10,000 unless you tell us first and we agree
  • Old antiques not packed by pros
  • Collectibles that are more valuable as a set
  • Electronics that don't work after (maybe they were faulty before)
  • Already damaged stuff
  • Plants
  • Things you packed yourself
  • Glass windows

Pro tip: List high-value items early. Pack fragile things well or let us do it. We note everything down for you.

7. How to Make a Claim if Needed

Moves follow the Owner's Risk rule. We only have the legal minimum carrier insurance.

To claim: Write to us within 24 hours of delivery. Late claims? No go. Pay your bill first.

We don't cover old damage or bad packing. If someone else caused it, they are at fault, not us. We check everything carefully. Photos before and after help! Our team is thorough to keep things smooth.

8. Other Things to Know About Responsibility

Small scratches on walls, doors, floors, or stairs can happen. It's part of busy moves under the owner's risk.

We don't fix lawns, driveways, paths, pipes, or wires if our truck damages them. If you tell us to go there anyway, it's your call.

Delays from traffic, weather, or ferries? We try hard, but it's not our fault.

Real talk: Moving is tough on spaces. Cover floors and clear paths to help. This makes the day faster for all.

9. How to Pay Us

Pay right after the job, unless we agree otherwise in writing.

  • EFTPOS on the truck – super easy!
  • Credit cards (Visa/MasterCard) add a 3% fee.
  • Cash is fine too.
